How to Use This Calculator

Pick your country from the Region & Rate box โ€” the calculator automatically loads that country's current standard, reduced, and super-reduced VAT rates as tappable pills. If your transaction doesn't fit one of the presets, switch to Custom Rate and type in any percentage.

Next, choose a Calculation Mode: use Add VAT when you have a net (tax-exclusive) price and want to work out the VAT and the final gross price; use Remove VAT when you have a gross (tax-inclusive) price โ€” for example, a receipt total โ€” and want to back out the net price and the VAT it contained; use From VAT Amount when you already know the tax figure itself (as shown on an invoice) and want to reconstruct the net and gross.

Type your figure into the amount box and every result updates instantly โ€” the gross/net/VAT chips, the visual net-vs-tax split bar, and (if you switch on Educational Mode) a full worked formula with the numbers plugged in, ideal for students or anyone double-checking a manual calculation.

Need to total up several items at once, like an invoice with mixed VAT rates? Tick Bulk / Multi-line Invoice Mode to switch to a line-item table โ€” add as many rows as you need, assign each its own rate, and the running Net/VAT/Gross totals update at the bottom. Use Copy Breakdown to paste an invoice-ready summary anywhere, or export the full calculation to PDF or Excel.
