Objective

Checkmate your opponent's king — put it under attack with no legal escape. Classic chess, all rules enforced.
Moving Pieces

Click a piece to select it. Legal move squares are highlighted with green dots. Click a highlighted square to move. Click the piece again to deselect.
Special Moves

Castling: Click the king and then click the rook's destination square (2 squares left or right). Available if neither piece has moved and no pieces are between them.

En Passant: When an enemy pawn moves two squares forward, your pawn may capture it diagonally on the next move.

Promotion: When your pawn reaches the opposite end, choose to promote it to a Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight.

Player vs Player: Pass the device between two players. Each takes their turn.

Player vs AI: Face off against ChessMind AI. Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard difficulty. Hard uses deep minimax search with alpha-beta pruning.

The game is drawn by stalemate (no legal moves, not in check), threefold repetition, the 50-move rule, or insufficient material.
